Joined the US Navy

AFEES, Omaha, NE

November 2, 1978

I was allowed to join as an "OSVET" and was to report to Great lakes Navel Base to attend a school before going to the fleet, but due to a screwup, I wound up back in boot camp again. instead of being in a riflecompany though I auditioned for the US Navy Choir, and was accepted. I sang first Tennor. I was the "BMOW", Bosen Mate of the Watch, so I was able to write my own chits, and go where I wanted any time. God had a plan for me and out of a company of 100 men, 26 accepted Jesus as their personal savior while I was with them. A pastor who was running from God in my unit came to a realization of the true purpose of his life, we actually had a little church that formed right in our barracks. I remember the night that I and thoses men marched down to the base pool and they were baptised. One Sunday I came down with double Pneumonia, and was sent to the dispensory, I spent several days there, and a corpman accepted Jesus, the next day I was well and returned to my unit. I grew to love Chicago, but all good things must come to an end. When I finished "A" school I was sent to the USS Seattle AOE 3. this opened a great adventure in my life.
