Looking Forward
The blizzard of 1947
December 28, 1947
I was born in the blizzard of 1947.
My mom trudged to church the Sunday of the 28th-The Day of the Holy Innocents and slipped in the drifts of snow and slid underneath and got covered up.
Only 5 foot two inches tall and eyes of blue, she called out in her meek little voice: "Hello, can someone help me?"
Eventually a gentleman came along and heard this voice coming from beneath the snow and dug her out.
She thanked him and dusted herself off and contined on her way to Mass.
The next evening I was born..nine pounds and 3 ounces with a full head of brown hair.
My mom says from the beginning I was blessed and have led a charmed life.
I think she may be correct!
